The Recordman is a well-known record store based in the Bay Area, offering a vast selection of vinyl records across all genres. With a loyal customer base spanning generations, the store has become a local favorite for music lovers and collectors. However, the store’s website didn’t reflect its legacy or its vibrant in-store experience.
The Recordman's website was outdated, visually unappealing, and difficult to navigate. The design felt cluttered, making it challenging for users to find what they were looking for. The owners’ goal was clear: they wanted a website that would not only attract new, younger customers but also drive foot traffic to the physical store. The old website simply didn’t do justice to the store's rich history or its wide array of products, and it failed to establish an inviting, contemporary online presence.
For the redesign, I aimed for a clean, minimalistic design that would feel modern and welcoming while still appealing to the store’s long-time customers. I chose a limited color palette of three brand-related hues: pink, red, and blue. These colors are synonymous with The Recordman’s identity and were used strategically throughout the site to create a cohesive and recognizable brand presence. The design focuses on simplicity, ensuring the user experience is intuitive and easy to navigate.
